Welcome one, and welcome all to the first of hopefully many bloggings. This here blog is one where in which I, Henry A.K.A. Hemiti A.K.A. Henigard A.K.A. Henington , and my partner Hayden A.K.A Hellkite (nicknames our good friends Rat and Bus from ratticusfinch.blogspot.com gave to us) will review various films. These films will range from 1-10 on my and Hellkite's dreadful-ness to sheer-elated-ness scale! I hope that made some sense. If not, you will catch on soon enough.
The first film I will have for you all today is called Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. When I heard this movie was emerging from the big screen into my pupils I was rather excited indeed! I absolutely adored Batman: The Dark Knight and when I heard there would be another movie with an extremely similar title I almost could not contain myself. (However when I first heard about it I thought David Tennant A.K.A. the best actor in cinema A.K.A. the tenth doctor in "Doctor Who" would be in it. Alas he was not.)
Ticket in hand, I lined up to see the film with Hayden and my wonderfully crazy friend Sam, whom I worried might start screaming "I WOULD GET YOU A DATE WITH A CHIMPANZEE IF IT WOULD GET YOU OUT OF THE HOUSE, MR. WAYNE" (our favorite line in the entire movie) in Alfred's, all too British voice. Anticipation swelled up inside of us like a terrible blood-sucking disease. I do not wan to spoil any of the movie for those of you under a rock that haven't seen it so I will skip to the afterward portion of it.
This film was, sadly, slightly under our estimated standard. We will, however, cut it some slack because it is indeed quite hard to follow up on Batman: The Dark Knight. Here are reasons of underwelming-ment:
- Bane is not a good villain. There I said it! The Joker pulled you into the story with a sense of real terror. Heath Ledger's last movie was not in the slightest his least. He played that part as if he were really a mass murdering psychopath and there was not a single millisecond that I didn't believe his character 110%. Bane had no such relationship to the audience (or at least me). Sure he was fine be he was certainly no Heath Ledger!
- There was not enough of Bane in the movie! Most of it was Batman coming up from retirement with Catwoman betraying and helping him with some Bane on the side. I personally think it should have been the other way around.
- The movie was too long. I got sort of bored near the end.
- Blah!
So there. There aren't many ugly things about this movie but there were a few so in the dreadful-ness to sheer-elated-ness scale I give this film:
8/10
This may seem great and it sort of is but I did, however, give Batman: The Dark Knight a 9.5/10. (amazing!!!)
I also want to say that in my and hayden's mind 1/10 is dreadful, 2/10 is slightly better, 3/10 is very bad, 4/10 is awful, 5/10 is below par, 6/10 is ok, 7/10 is average 8/10 is good, 9/10 is fantastic, 10/10 is sheer-elated-ness.
Thank you for reading everyone! This is Hemiti signing out. Below is the link to the trailer:
